Our Jurisdiction:

IATSE Local 205 is a labor union representing stage employees in the Austin, TX area who work in live events such as theater, conventions, and trade shows, festivals, and concerts. If you are looking to work in film and television, you should contact IATSE Local 484.

Membership qualifications:

The first step to becoming an IATSE Local 205 union member, is to attend our free Unionism Class. After taking the Unionism Class, prospects for membership will need to attend an Applicant Interview. This occurs on the second Wednesday of any month, 1 PM-3 PM at the 205 Union office in Suite 204 of the IBEW building at: 4818 E. Ben White Blvd. Austin, TX 78741. Assuming considered qualified to apply, applicants will need to provide a $100 check or M.O. made out to IATSE. This is a non-refundable application fee paid directly to the International Union office. Upon the International's approval and acceptance into Local 205, a non-refundable initiation fee of $200 shall be paid to IATSE Local 205. 

Applicants should also work with Local 205 by registering with the Referral Hiring Hall. Our referral/hiring hall registration process is open to all qualified individuals; you do not need to be a union member to register for the hall, nor does registering with the hall make you a union member.

If you are already an IATSE member through another local and wish to transfer your membership to Local 205, the 18-month residency rule does not apply to you.
