Our Jurisdiction:

IATSE Local 205 is a labor union representing stage employees in the Austin, TX area who work in live events such as theater, conventions, and trade shows, festivals, and concerts. If you are looking to work locally in film and television, you should contact IATSE Local 484.

Membership qualifications

The first step towards becoming a Union Member in IATSE Local #205 is to attend our free Unionism Class. Unionism classes are generally held the first week of each calendar quarter, exact dates TBD. After taking the Unionism Class, prospects for membership will then need to attend an Applicant Interview. Applicant Interviews occur on the second Wednesday of any month, 1PM - 3PM at the IA205 office in Suite 204 of the IBEW building at: 4818 E. Ben White Blvd. Austin, TX 78741. Assuming one is considered qualified to apply at this time, applicants must provide a $100 Cashier's check or M.O. made out to "IATSE". This is a non-refundable application fee paid directly to the IATSE Union office in NYC. Upon the applicant's approval by the International office and then the membership's acceptance of the applicant into Local 205, a non-refundable initiation fee of $200 shall be paid to IATSE Local 205 and then one is sworn in. 

Applicants should also work with Local 205 by registering with the Referral Hiring Hall. Our Referral/Hiring Hall registration process is open to all qualified individuals; one does not need to be a Union member to register for the Referral Hall, nor does registering with the Referral Hall make one a Union member.

If you are already a Member in Good Standing of an IATSE "Stage," "Projection" or "Mixed" Local and wish to transfer your membership to Local 205, the 18-month residency rule does not apply to you, however Local 205 initiation fees do.
